Boundary Element Tearing and Interconnecting Methods in Unbounded Domains

چکیده
Finite element tearing and interconnecting (FETI) methods and boundary element tearing and interconnecting (BETI) methods are special iterative substructuring methods with Lagrange multipliers. For elliptic boundary value problems on bounded domains, the condition number of these methods can be rigorously bounded by C ((1+log(H/h)), where H is the subdomain diameter and h the mesh size. The constant C is independent of H, h and possible jumps in the coefficients of the partial differential equation. In certain situations, e. g., in electromagnetic field computations, instead of imposing artificial boundary conditions one may be interested in modelling the real physical behaviour in an exterior domain with a radiation condition. In this work we analyze one-level BETI methods for such unbounded domains and show explicit condition number estimates similar to the one above. Our theoretical results are confirmed in numerical experiments.

Coupled Boundary and Finite Element Tearing and Interconnecting Methods
We have recently introduced the Boundary Element Tearing and Interconnecting (BETI) methods as boundary element counterparts of the wellestablished Finite Element Tearing and Interconnecting (FETI) methods. Since Finite Element Methods (FEM) and Boundary Element Methods (BEM) have certain complementary properties, it is sometimes very useful to couple these discretization techniques and to bene...

The Boundary Element Tearing and Interconnecting (BETI) methods have recently been introduced as boundary element counterparts of the well–established Finite Element Tearing and Interconnecting (FETI) methods. In this paper we present inexact data–sparse versions of the BETI methods which avoid the elimination of the primal unknowns and dense matrices. However, instead of symmetric and positive...
متن کاملSolution of Thermo-Fluid problems in Bounded Domains via the Numerical Panel Method
The classical panel method has been extensively used in external aerodynamics to calculate ideal flow fields around moving vehicles or stationary structures in unbounded domains. However, the panel method, as a somewhat simpler implementation of the boundary element method, has rarely been employed to solve problems in closed complex domains. This paper aims at filling this gap and discusses th...
متن کاملRobust Boundary Element Domain Decomposition Solvers in Acoustics
Tearing and interconnecting domain decomposition methods [ 2, 3] are well established for an efficient and parallel solution of various elliptic partial differential equations by using finite and boundary element methods. But in the case of the Helmholtz equation, additional difficulties may appear. Although the global boundary value problem admits a unique solution, local subdomain solvers as ...
